not finished shopping - and snowed in!

Heavy snow last night continuing today in my area. It's about 6-7 inches deep now and still snowing.

I'd planned to finish my shopping this weekend but no chance of that now.

Just checked the forecast for Monday and beyond and it looks like staying well below freezing day and night. So the snow won't melt and I'll be grounded. (I don't drive).

I should've been more organised...!

I've just walked down to my local tesco (This is in Lancs) - lots of people on foot with rucksacks trying to get in to do food shopping - staples like Bread and milk were flying off the shelves.

We had a heavy snowfall this morning, then thunder and lightning with some hail stones thrown in. Now its sunny and the snow is slowly melting. It could all be gone so quickly. Try not to worry its another week till xmas.
  • Not everyone even lives within walking distance of a town centre, or even a corner shop. So telling them to walk might not be much use!

Oh, I do hope he will be ok! Is he still in hospital? All very well people saying just walk, it won't hurt you - in this case it's done some serious damage.

I hope you have a peaceful Christmas despite this injury to your poor O/H.
  • we have terrible ice atm our bath has been filled with water for the past 2 nights as the pipes had frozen poor dh has spent 2 hours yesterday adn another 2 today unblocking them!

our bad snow was 1-2 weeks ago and it was murder! i went to my local shop and the first 2 aisles were packed with people waiting to get bread as the delivery van was unloading at the back of the shop. when the sales assistant came out with the crates people were pulling and pushing, grabbing 4 or 5 loaves each. it looked like a zombie movie there were arms evrywhere!
the sales assistant now has a cast on her arm as it was broken from all the people pushing around her - she was knocked sideways and fell onto a shelving unit thing resluting in a trip to a+e and a broken arm!!!

i couldnt believe how people were behaving!
i dread to think what would happen if rationing were to be re-introduced, there'd be dead bodies everywhere!

Zaksmum I dont blame you form not wanting to go out. It may be 6-7 inches of snow but as mary op's poor husband found out there is hard packed snow and ice under neath.

Do you have anyone who can bring you stuff? a friend or relative.

I wouldnt worry too much about pressies, im sure everyone will understand. There will be a lot of people getting stuff in January this year. Either because of the snow or delayed deliveries.

How close could Tesco or Asda get to your house? Is the drive/road clear enough to meet them?

I stay in Aberdeenshire and we currently have a foot of snow lying. Im 21 weeks pregnant but able to get about. Im only going out when necesary.
I will have to attempt to go to Tesco later for our Christmas food shopping but im very lucky as the council have been great here and have kept the roads and paths reasonably clear.

Hop it lets up enough for you to get the essentials.
