It is NOT a good product. I have used it in the past. They sell it but they don't tell you that after a year you have to buy it again. It stops working. Also they do NOT host the drivers as when I had it it would go to the taiwanese web sites.

Maybe you didn't realise because you didn't read what was on the screen? It clearly states on the order page: 1 Year License for Driver Detective with unlimited updates

Must be a different one to the one I used. You have two options - download from DriversHQ and download from manufacturers website.

And at £2.50 a year for licencing, I think its a bargain. Then again, I have a business selling, repairing and upgrading computers. If you're a home user trying to find one for your own, its a bit of overkill. In my case it paid for itself in its very first use, finding immediately an obscure driver for an E-System EI-1211 that I'd spent hours fruitlessly trying to find a working download.

Cheers hammy, gave it a blast and have updated half-a-dozen drivers based on it's scan results, none of which were available from Windows Update. One to keep in the back pocket and register if and when the need arises :)

Please don't. AMD or nVidias website depending on what graphics card he has. The Windows Update ones are woefully out of date.

Do you mean ATI or nVidia? And isn't it better to go to the graphics card manufacturer's website, rather than the chipset manufacturer's?

    Probably not
The ATI brand has now been dropped in favour of AMD, and the drivers are now available on the AMD website only.

Oh yes - I remember reading something about that now! :o But still, I get the drivers for one of my graphics cards from the Gigabyte website, rather than nVidia. So it's not necessarily a choice between just AMD and nVidia if you're looking for drivers...

You could do, but generally the manufacturers website just has repackaged versions of AMD and nVidia's drivers, and they tend to be out of date. For example the Gigabyte website currently offers version 258.96 of nVidia's drivers, whereas if you go directly to nVidia's website you can grab the 260.99 drivers. Not a huge difference for most people, but if you like being bang up-to-date then it is better to go directly to the red or green websites.
