I signed up for a mystery box of goodies from these folks ages ago, but just had broken promises, and poor excuses every time, for not being able to send one..

is this just a ploy, to get people's details to sell on?

if they cant manage to get together a few freebies, they shouldnt keep teasing people!

It's not a ploy. I received the first one (which must have a been a few years ago now) and the latest one, which only made it through my letterbox today, presumably due to the snow chaos.

As with any freebie, there are only so many to go round and you have to keep your fingers crossed that you're one of the lucky few who get something.

Accusing companies of trying to harvest details to sell on is the fastest way of convincing them not to bother giving away anything in the future. It doesn't do any of us any favours.

If you go through old posts on this site, you will see that Tim Milne posted on MSE quite a lot during the sign up for the first Matter box and I recall, had to put up with a lot of negative posts like your own. I'm not surprised I haven't seen him posting here about the latest box - there's only so much mud slinging a person can take.

You missed out this time - you just need to be fastest next time.

I recieved my matterbox about a week ago, it had a couple of cardboard games in and a bar of chocolate that my son promptly ate. It wasn't however worth being this upset over, the bar of chocolate was something you can go buy for 50p yourself. Check your details on the site too, I missed out on the last one because I'd forgotten to update after a move.

I had an email 2 weeks ago, apologising for the fact I would not be getting a box as there were not enough to go round. On Friday a box dropped on the mat - I am glad I was not looking forward to it, as it was a complete waste of packaging!

Boxes were not sent out automatically this time - you had to respond to an email asking you to confirm your details (even if they had not changed). You had to be amongst the quickest to respond.
