hi
is my tv on the way out? it is the old type tv and is hooked up to a humax
when we switch on it has a black line at the top inch or so,the writing is up from the bottom of the screen and it is in somehow wider screen?
the button on the remote to change it from small to big screen seems to not do anything now. sometimes switching on and off seems to work. could do with out hunting for the cheapest tv before xmas.
thankyou

Is your TV a widescreen 16:9 TV or older square screen 4:3?
The Humax settings could of been changed by mistake which could be affecting the aspect ratio of the screen and adding black bars.0 -
hi there, it is a widescreen tv
i have checked the hummys settings but will check again thankyou0 -
You could plug the aerial directly into the TV and remove any scarts and see how the TV displays the Analogue TV. That would eliminate the Humax and it's settings from the equation.
You could also check the TV's settings as they often have aspect ratio settings such as 4:3, wide, 16:9 etc. Note that BOTH the TV and the Humax will have aspect ratio settings and they both need to be set correctly to get the picture to display full screen. You might have the Hummy set to 4:3 with either 16:9 or 14:9 for picture adjustment for 4:3 displays with the TV set to wide which can display black bars top & bottom. Auto or Smart can get it right most of the time.0
