    I think you multiply. And by the power of cut and paste I think it would be

    value of trade debtors at end of financial year,quarter,month divided by total sales for the year,quarter,month and then multiply by 365,91,30.

  • A few points

    Firstly traditionally Credit Controllers and Debt collectors are different jobs. A credit controller is by their nature controlling credit. They will be making decisions on what level of credit people deserve that both maximises the sales and minimises credit losses. Relationship building and analysing will be key.

    Credit Controllers aren't normally senior positions but neither are they entry level positions. You show a clear lack of understanding of simple credit control terms and thus in my view are not appropriately qualified or experienced for this job. Why exactly are you applying for it?

    I would expect the interview to be two pronged and look at both credit control knowledge and some scenarios that a controller might encounter and how they would proceed. Based by your post you have little hope on either front.
  • Oh the ratio is Trade Debtors Average/Sales x 365. This is then compared to market average/acceptable levels to decide if an issue exists.

    One thing to bear in mind though and is more prevalent than ever these days is that this is a historical ratio; the current is far more important and you will likely find that whilst you will be evaluated on debt losses and debtor days you will have to use far more current minded techniques to evaluate credit worthiness.
