I was talking to a friend earlier who says she's been debating getting a Wii ... but she's not 100% sure about it.
She's played a couple of games on it at a mutual friends house, and says it was great for a group, but is she likely to use it on her own?
Does anyone have Wii fit and/or any of the brain training type things as she would probably want those rather than some of the more group-type games ...
Does anyone who lives on their own have a Wii & actually use it, rather than using it whilst it's a novelty and then having it gather dust?

It can be used for solo activities like games, exercise, Wii fit plus n balance board, Internet, BBC iplayer etc.

Driving games, dance games, shoot em up, board games, platform games can all be played on your own or with a gathering of mates. (you'l need extra controllers if people playing together)

It is so cheap these days so a good all rounder for most people on a budget.
  • i just bought a wii and imo (although i am a heavy gamer) i really enjoy playing the tennis games. If your friend gets one it will probably come with wii motion plus, in which case i can recommend games like virtua tennis or if willing to be patient grand slam tennis, you get so much satisfaction from it. imo motion plus is what wii was supposed to eb like when it first came out

I would suggest that she identifies five games that she would like to buy first (she doesn't have to buy then all straight away!). If she can do this, then she'll know whether she is likely to play them.

Wii Fit has yoga and step aerobics-type exercises which are to be done solo.
Would she enjoy any of the music games - karaoke, guitar hero? As far as I know, these can be played with other people online, which she might want to investigate.

Tell her to get an xbox and kinect, the fitness games on it are 100X better than both the wii and the ps3 move.

That way she can play games as well as motion games (if she's into those)

The Xbox & Kinect are very expensive aren't they ...
I think the Wii appealed because it was pretty affordable ...

Anybody got any experience with brain training type games for the Wii?

Big Brain Academy is avail on the Wii. I like it.

You could pick it up for £10 or less secondhand.

    I got mine in a Blockbuster s/h game deal 4 for £20
