Mostly true however with Lloyds the move between Standard current account to Gold - Platinum - Premier (AVAS) are actually scored. (Internally normally, but even though they are paid accounts, they do require certain levels of account conduct and to meet certain internal risk requirements).

There are quite a few members here who have been refused Gold Accounts etc, despite them being willing to pay.

Student accounts are not the easiest accounts to get these days due to the amount of lending they afford - so defaults etc will most definitely make getting one a nightmare.

As suspected it was a no go for today BUT my suspicions about account conduct and payments going in were right. I was advised that now I will be using my account again with payments going in every month an upgrade should be no issue in 3 or 4 months as Lloyds do base it on account use and conduct.

Just wish I had been using them all along since I started back at college!
