Personalised English lessons

I would need someone to come around my place to give myself and a friend of mine some good quality English lessons for a couple of hours per week.
I am expecting to pay ~ £35 per hour, would that be sufficient to get good quality teachers?
How do I go about finding someone good? :j
thanks

Hi
I am now retired, but when I did work I was an Adult Education Tutor, working in literacy classes. The people who came to the classes were of varying levels of ability, from those who were unable to write their name and address, to those who needed to brush up on punctuation, letter writing etc.
By the way, most of the classes are not held in schools, so there are no schooldays connotations, which seems to be an important factor for many prospective students. Most Local Authorities run these community classes free of charge, but I know it is possible to pay for private lessons. However, I don´t think this can be arranged at your own home. I can´t say what the current fee is, as I have not worked for three years, but I think you are about right with your estimate. It is a much cheaper proposition than going through a private agency, who in many cases employ the same tutors and add on their cut to the fee. You can get further information from your local Adult Education Office. Good luck!0 -
Do websites offering such services (i.e. matching teachers with potential students for private lessons) exist?
