Accident Advice Helpline - Not 100% Compensation (£379 fee comes from your winnings)

Be careful of a nice big fee, some of these companies take out of your compensation, just for passing you details onto a solicitor. I was unfortunately injured in a car accident, and used Accident Advice Helpline to make a claim against the other driver. This company and many others in their field will make a big deal about "No Win, No Fee". But what they won't draw too much attention to is that if you were to win, then a nice portion (£379 + VAT) will be taken out of you compensation, and will then go to the Claim Company as their fee. I have just received my compensation check, which after speaking to the solicitor, was expecting just over £2000; only to find it for about £400 lighter than that!

Be careful, let my misjudgement help you. You don't want your money, going to a company who pass on your details to a solicitor, who then does all the work.

Make sure to look for a company that says you will receive 100% of the compensation, the fee to the Claim Management Company will then be paid by the Solicitor out of the fee they receive from the other side. It will mean, that unlike me, you will not be footing the bill.

I will not recommend Accident Advice Helpline to anyone, due to this fee, but would recommend one of the many others out there that will guarantee you 100% of the compensation. For example my wife is using National Accident Helpline, who have told her again on the phone this evening, that the fee they receive will come from the Solicitor out of their fees they recover from the other side.

Next time look for "cashback no win no fee injury lawyers" on google to find claim handlers who will give you a commission for giving them your business (£300 to 500 is not unusual).
  • not being funny, but! the clues are there, no win, no fee, implying there's a fee if you do win.

best go with a company that reclaims the fee from the other side so you keep 100% of the awarded compo. i've no idea if in reality the latter are offered a smaller settlement as the paying out ins company know they're going to get stung with the cost, or do they not know until after the offer has been accepted? does anybody know?
