House moving - snow?

We are meant to be moving into our new house early next week, our stuff has been in storage for months.
I am worried about forthcoming snow. The removal company said they have never had to cry off up to now but I just can't imagine how they could manage.
There is always something to worry about, eh?

why worry..nothing has happened yet...it might be a sunny day...you must worry a lot..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
If it's any consolation my son had some stuff relocated by a removal company recently, it was a horrendous day when they cam to do the collection, they couldn't get within 500m of the house because of the compacted ice and he still got his stuff bang on time. Not quite a whole house but they don't give up easily hope it all goes well.0

I have wondered myself what happens if, on completion day, we can't move because of the weather. We are moving 200 miles so plenty of scope for snowdrifts!0

I know, I am too much of a worrier but it has been a long haul getting this far.0

We moved 2 weeks ago and the weather was quite bad, did ourselves too! had arranged a horse box loan but couldn't get it as down a very snowy field so ended up with a pick up truck (another loan). All sorted itself out in the end!

I once moved house just after Christmas and the road we were moving from had inches of compacted ice on it and we lived up a hill. The removal van couldn't get up easily and slid about all over the place. They had to come up backwards too. They did make it afer several tries and loaded up and the move was carried out perfectly okay. So don't worry. They will do everything they can to do the removal on time.0

Not trying to be nasty but a Private company not ruled over by health and safety pen pushers will be full of people who will see the snow and ice as a problem to overcome and will do their very best to ensure that they move you as well as they can.
I had to dig a delivery driver out of the ice last week, not because I wanted to but because there was no way way I was going to let a little bit of ice stop me doing my job.
You will find that Britain is still full of people that actually want to do their job.
Don't worry until the day.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
We've just done it in the last batch of snow, did the move ourselves and, while it was soul destroying at times - we did pull it off (although I'm not sure my sofa will ever be quite the same again - could be hubby threatening to just "pivot", ie - chuck it, over the garden fence).
Things we learnt if you're moving in snow - use a tonne of cardboard from your boxes to protect the hall carpet where you come into the house - our carpet got absolutely saturated with people coming in and out endlessly with snow on their boots. Lots of hot drinks to keep you warm when the door's open for people coming in and out - I don't think I felt fully warm for about 5 days afterwards (although I did have a massively bad chest infection when we were moving as well) and before the snow kicks in and everywhere sells out - it might be worth going and picking up a bag of rock salt from somewhere like B+Q so you're not moving heavy boxes over a completely ungritted path (if you're moving a distance you can at least pre-grit around your old house to make getting stuff out slightly less deadly).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
