I would say that from what you've said about the leaky roof etc would make me somewhat worried - as poster above said assume it would remain in the same state as you saw it. Another thing I would be somewhat worried about would be the fact it is also on the market, although if you only want it short term then it may not be such an issue but as a previous poster said take into consideration people may request viewings etc and obviously if the house gets sold then you'll have to find somewhere else once the agreed tenancy is up.
I dont think time its been empty is necessarily something to be overly worried about (although this can be linked to the condition of the property) - I think a lot of the time it probably just comes to personal choice. The flat I rent was empty for well over a year before I moved in - as a result I got it at least £50pm cheaper than it used to be on the market for - its got old carpets and not very nice curtains but that didnt bother me but it probably bothered other people....
Obviously only you can decide - If you think you could make do with staying in the refuge for a little longer then I would personally say wait and see what else you can find, but obviously if your in somewhat of a hurry to move then maybe it would be ok as a short term solutionMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11
