I am looking to convert old VHS videos to DVD. I have a VHS player and DVD recorder and freeview box.
How I should connect the DVD recorder and VHS so they can copy is driving me mad.
Can anyone give me a diagram or description please?
Thanks.

The freeview box won't be involved so leave that out of the discussion.
Why is it 'driving you mad'? What have you tried to do so far? It would help to know what inputs and outputs you have on the VHS and DVD machines. What make and model are they?
Generally, though (assuming both have SCARTs) - buy a SCART lead. Connect it between the two machines. Monitor the output from the DVD recorder either by connecting another SCART to your TV, or via the aerial (RF) lead out from the DVD recorder to the TV
Select the SCART input on the DVD recorder (A1, AV1 or similar).
Press play on VHS, press Record on DVD. Set a timer for the length of the programme you're transferring, so that you can come back and press Stop exactly at the end of it, and end up with nice neat DVDs.

Do you have instruction manuals for any of the equipment?
When I asked -

why have you no answer?0 -

I thought the above "gadget" would be good but was unable to get past adding a non-hdpvr freesat.
If you have struggled in the past to buy a weekly bus ticket don't try and set up vcr/dvd record on your own.0 -

You shouldn't have any problem copying home recordings (from TV or camcorder) - just connect the video to the DVD recorder by SCART.
If you mean you're trying to copy shop-bought, commercial releases, chances are you're having problems because of the Macrovision copy protection.
It can be removed, but not legally.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0
