Southern Price increase... I did warn you!
Scottish and Southern Energy has begun informing its domestic electricity and
gas customers that its prices for energy will rise, either from 1 March 2005 or,
for around 550,000 new customers, from 1 July 2005. Across Great Britain, the
average price rise for electricity customers will be 6.7% (3.7% in the north of
Scotland) and the price rise for gas customers will be 9.1%.

Just got Martin's Money tip on this. There seems a complete lack of transparency and proper free market operation in this sector:
1) It takes several weeks to change suppliers in my experience, yet we only get 2 weeks notice of the price rise (and that via MSE - nothing from Southern yet)
2) We don't know what the rise will be for our postcode - only a "average rise" across the UK
3) The Comparison Services haven't factored the rise in either. So I can't even shop around yet. I suspect I will save money with Cambridge for both gas and elec but I will be taking a punt.........

Once you have switched from your original host Supplier, is there much saving to made in switching. As soon as you switch to one the price goes up ,then you try another whose price then goes up & think off all the hassle in between.0
