And all the overseas costs go up too, can be as high as 15p.0

Given the number of letters posted is reducing rapidly each year then I'm not surprised. It's either downsize to remain sustainable or increase the price.0

Standard Parcel compensation fee is increasing drastically as well. It is being based on the weight of the parcel now, £100 is going to cost £2.08 to £4.37 against a flat £1. A heavy £100 is worth more than a light £100. They must use the "what weighs more, a ton of rocks or a ton of feathers" logic. Obviously losing too many and having to pay out.0 -
If you buy first class stamps that just say "1st" on them (and not the pence), surely they will still be valid after April?
If so, stock up now.

I've read that the letter business is failing but the packets (no clue about Standard Parcels) business is good, not good enough however to balance the books. So raise packet prices, not everything else all in one go year after year, which obviously does not work (only if you count "profits fell" as not working, surely " no profits means not working?).
Letters have a more viable alternative in email, but packets from web orders and eBay only have courier options which tend to be alot more expensive.0 -
This lot must be on a death wish.
Royal Mail is to raise the cost of a first-class stamp by a record 5p to 46p in April, the company has confirmed.
It will be the largest increase since first-class postage began in 1968. A second-class stamp will rise by 4p, taking it to 36p.0 -
