Need Help! (the delivery man stole my mail!)

I was supposed to be recieving several hair care items which I had wanted to get people for Christmas this year.
Agggghhh! I cannot afford this!
I have no idea what to do! I need to conact some form of authority. I am thinking of the CAB, the Consumer Direct people, Trading Standards and the Police (being that the company have not had the items back the person at the wrong address does not have the items and the delivery people seem to be the people who have the items but are refusing to read and reply to my emails.)
Does anyone have any more ideas on what to do? I am finding it hard not to act on pure anger here and get some form of revenge. I would ideally like compensation and an apology as well as the DPD delivery to admit responsibility but a big part of me wants heads to roll! This has potentially ruined my Christmas!
- I was due to get them in early November, more then enough time for Christmas.
- They did not arrive. So the company sent out more.
- Again they did not arrive. I verified my address with the company who said they had sent everything out to the correct address and they sent more out to me. I still got nothing.
- I contacted them again, they then said they had signed proof it had been recieved by me. I asked for this proof and they sent a signature- it was not mine!
- I told the company it was not mine, they said it shows my address and a signature and they have proof it has been recieved.
- I was then onto the delivery company- DPD delivery (I had to google the name on the forwarded reciept) who had they sent my mail to if it was not me? They just sent back automated replies "we have delivered this to the correct address...it has been signed for" but not actually reading my complaint. The proof of delivery shows my name and my post code.
- Then out of the blue and by chance (I won something) I get something else sent by the same company. It arrives to my address. My name, my post code. The delivery man acts shocked (and very transparent!) and basicly says "Oh, I recognise your name, I have been delivering your mail to XXX Street and not XXX road! (Being that the post codes are different I can't quite see how he could make this mistake). I asked why someone else had taken mail that was addressed to me, he said "I dunno, she probably just threw it away, shes new she said it could be for the past occupier".
- I then wrote a letter to this address asking if they have my mail. Could I please come collect it as I need it for Xmas. They write back very swifty, the lady saying she gave it back to the courier as it was not addressed to her. She tells me she has lived there for many years.
- I contacted the delivery company again but they don't answer the phone and when they reply by email refuse to see their part in this, saying it was addressed to the place it was delivered dispite both the lady recieving the items and the company I got the items from saying otherwise.
- The delivery people say I need to conact the company to speak to them as it was sent to the correct address. I have contacted the company and being that they sent me something this week, I know they sent it to the correct address- the women at the wrong address said this too in her letter to me and the confirmation signature I have shows clearly my name, my postcode! Why are they lying!

I am waiting for lots of items in the post..this is worrying me a little!0

The woman at the other house could also be lying presumably? Contact the police, it's theft by someone.0

I had a delivery today.
The delivery man now retracting his story again!
I am told he forgot that he took back the items from the lady (she did refuse them). He took them back to the depot and left them. Some were destroyed but som were OK. Out of the 10 items I ordered, I get 5. Some are damaged, lidless but still useable.
I have contacted the delivery people AGAIN who say its not their responsibity and I will need to still contact the company again! I also told them I have proof it was originally sent to the correct address as inside the DPD parcel were my individual items in a brown parcel, ripped open but with my address on it!
I have told the company themselves. I am going to now make a claim with DPD who have not only damaged my items but also stolen half of them. I cannot get these replaced now and am gutted and very angry. Its obvious the delivery company are at fault here and I want them to admit responsibility and pay some form of compensation.
The Consumer Direct people the best start? or do I go straight to the Police?0 -
I'd go to the police myself, that company need a solid kick in the !!!!! It is theft, plain and simple, and if the delivery company won't take responsibilty (and it IS theirs to make sure you recieve your packages) they are aiding and abetting in my opinion. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

I would go back to the company that sent to you with the items have been stolen from them and I would contact my card company and get the payment reversed0

OP I don't think you can make any claim against the delivery company, your complaint/claim should be against the company you ordered the goods from. They are the ones who entered into a contract with the delivery company, not you.
Did you pay by credit card? If so, and you are getting no joy from the company you ordered the goods from, try raising a claim through your credit card provider.0 -
This seems very black & white to me - the items were sent to you, to the correct address so the contract passes onto the delivery company who have a responsibility to ensure that the items are either delivered to you or returned to whoever sold you the items.
The fact that a signature is required and that someone other than you has signed for and seemingly had the items, this amounts to fraud or theft. The company you bought the items from & / or you have been defrauded, apparently by the delivery company.
It if were me I would either contact the police as this appears to be either theft or fraud, both of which are criminal acts, or I would contact the delivery company and tell them that if they don't deliver your items to you in the condition they received them in, or pay you for the items then you will take action against them. Email them & send a letter in the post and give them a time limit in which to respond.
You are the innocent party here, you have every right to be angry & someone will have to take responsibility for this.0 -
Thankyou everyone! I have not paid over £100 so no money can be claimed back. The company who I got the stuff from is not contacting me or contacts me back every 5 working days....which is soo long to wait IMO. It could be they have no staff due to it being Xmas or it could be I have sent them so many emails in the past and did get quite frustrated at times... (well it is my christmas!) I have sent them emails letting them know step by step, they said they have a signature for the items (which would appear to be from the delivery man himself) and I guess from their point of view they have lost enough money resending out multiple items and then they don't get recieved.0
