partner stopping over

i was told today that now if your partner stays over for a day/night you have to tell the job centre wheres before it used to be 3 nights they could stop over and if they caught you, you could be looking at a prison sentence or cs, and i havent been doing it as im married but i was just wondering

It has never been three nights it's a myth. There is not set amount,
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.
  • As said above there has never been a set number of nights. Each case is judged on its own merits as to whether the claimant is Living Together As Husband And Wife (LTAHAW) with someone. This can be decided by many factors and the number of nights someone stays over MAY be one of the factors considered.

For example, in 2004 I lived apart from my husband for six weeks as we were busy moving countries and I stayed behind to sort the UK end out while he did the Spanish end. Because we were apart for six weeks did not mean we were not a couple! (We claim no means-tested Benefits anyway, but just an example). OTOH, my son lived for a year in a flat with a friend, who happened to be female. They were just flatmates, not LTAHAW.

So there are many factors they take into consideration when deciding if someone is LTAHAW and number of nights that someone stays is only one of them.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

i have heard rumours of this too. but its not about at 10pm at night just as things get romantic and you make the decision to let the new relationship move towards the bedroom and stay over that you got to ask permission before hand.

    lol

its not about asking permission, like asking father of the bride for daughters hand in marriage.LOL its about change in circumstances for those claiming they single to then atleast volunteer information that they are in a relationship.

nothing will be done. no slapped wrists. no nasty stuff. its just informs them that maybe in 6 months time or 12 months time a review might be required... MIGHT!

its so they have a lifestyle timeline. imagine it 12 months time the relationship moves on and you move together. the benefits beforehand would see a single-> co-habiting jump and will start wondering. hmmm so what went on inbetween. sparking possible issues. but declaring a relationship atleast shows a timeline in your defence that can avoid arguments or problems or nasty questions being asked in future

i know its nosey and shouldnt be even required so its not a formal thing, but yes more then one person has heard this so its obviously in the pipeline

I don't think anyone would be interested in every new BF/GF you have - just in case it leads to a permanent arrangement!

You need to inform them as and when you start living like a couple rather than two individuals.
