Hi Carmen - sorry to hear you are feeling so awful - hope it won't be too long before you start to pick up. You sound really low and tired - you have my permission to cuddle up on the sofa with a hot water bottle, duvet, nice DVD, glass of wine etc. Take care and get well soon. Well done on the weight loss.
The Right Trousers
For me, finding a nice, well-fitting pair of trousers is like the search for the Holy Grail. Not that I'm fussy, it's just that I have certain requirements:rotfl:
A good fit round the derriere, pockets that don't gape or add inches to my hips, a waistband that doesn't cut me in half, a gentle flair or boot-cut, and at least a 31" leg. And if possible, at a price that doesn't require a second mortgage.
Well today I found some, in a concession shop at one of the hospitals OH attends. They have a small shop called the Stock Shop, selling mainly knitwear and seperates.
Bagged a fab pair of mid-grey trousers which met all of the above requirements for £23. Bargain - nice fabric too.;)
Been feeling really tired today, felt quite lightheaded and queasy so had a rest on the sofa this afternoon and most of this evening, dozing in front of the TV.
Did manage 2kms on the bike and a good stretching session so not quite as bad as it sounds.:o
Anyway off for an early(ish) night.
Hope you are all well.0 -
Bright and breezy today here today. Wished I felt the same. Still feeling rather tired, forgot OH's physio appt - must get a grip.
Not achieved very much today although made a start on some paperwork and phone calls etc.
Just off to tackle the ironing pile, cook dinner - an early night required I think. Hopefully will feel more energetic tomorrow.
Sorry for such a dull, uninspiring post. Defintely lost my mojo today.:o
Hope you are all well and full of beans.0 -
Good evening ladies,
LL, sorry that you have lost your mojo, I know you will find it soon.
Just because you are going to have more time for yourself, no slacking, I sayJewelery to be made, furniture to restore etc etc!! Or you could just relax for a few days and recharge your batteries, they have been flat out lately.
Great find with the trousers, right place at the right time
Another beautiful day again so popped along to the market, bought my fresh fruit and veg then sat and watched the world go by, it was nice to get out for a change.
I think I am starting to feel better at last but have been told it maybe a while before I feel really well...hmmmm!
Sleep well LL
Maman  I hope all is well with you?

Yes Carmen, all is well. I'm delighted to have lost 2lbs more at SW today. That's just 2lbs over 3 weeks but it means that all excesses from Paris trip, meals out etc have been balanced out by on-plan eating and I'm back on track.
I love the idea of you sitting in the sun watching the world go by. I can't wait for the spring to come. Really pleased to hear you're picking up a bit.
Those trousers sound really good LL. I'm fussy too.
I remember saying to my SIL a few years ago that if she ever caught me wearing those ghastly M&S Classic trousers she was to shoot me! Those are the horribly crimplene type things that most people wear too short with skin coloured tights showing above their shoes. They have elasticated waists at the back and the gathers make your bum (:o I am allowed to say that aren't I?) look really odd. Apologies to anyone who's lurking and wears them:D Personally I like wide leg trousers, preferably high-waist, definitely no 'nylon' type fabric and really long to cover my ankles and touch my shoes. I'm fancying a grey pair too as mine are almost all black and almost all far too big.:T
It's time I got back to some proper walking as this has sadly lapsed (as has cleaning and serious reading) since I had the surgery. Scar is now almost completely healed so there's nothing to stop me but idleness!
Had a bit of bad news today. My aunt died last night at the ripe age of almost 95! She was taken to hospital a week ago with some breathing problems and it was obviously too much to recover from. I am so pleased that I went to visit her last Sunday and we had a lovely long chat. She was completely lucid and we talked about all sorts including her wishing me a happy birthday for this weekend as she wouldn't be able to send me a card.:) I'm feeling a bit mortal as she is the last of my mother's sisters so it's the end of a chapter.0 -
Hi Everyone
Carmen - Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, it's nice just to sit and watch the world go by sometimes. I love people watching and sometimes play a little game with myself called "I wonder what they do for a living".
Maman - sorry to hear about your aunt - it's nice that you got to have a final farewell chat though. I know what you mean about feeling mortal - it's a feeling that creeps up on you when you least expect it. When you are in your twenties you feel that you could live forever.
Well done on the weight losses both of you:T I'm feeling shamed by my lack of success:o
Feeling brighter today - still feeling a bit tired despite sleeping quite well. Think I've got my mojo back now though.;)
Your comments about taking it easy for a few days struck a chord with me Carmen.
I've always lived at a hundred miles an hour and once I knew that the care package was going to happen, my head started racing with all the things I want/need/or would like to do.
OH has needed my almost constant attention for so long now that I'd lost my freedom and independence and was desperate to get started. It made me feel anxious and stressed just thinking about it all - getting a job, doing my antique fairs, the house, garden etc.
You're absolutely right about taking a few days out first. It's not a race and I don't need to do it all at once.
So ........I'm going to take your advice and take a few days off. DS2 is having a few days off next week so I will have a bit of one to one time with him, probably help him look for a car.
Despite having a degree in film-making, he works in a garden centre - better than having no job:p. I've promised to help him set up a side-line business in photography so I'm hoping to take him to a few galleries, workshops and fancy design studios to get some ideas.
I daresay our research will probably involve the odd lunch or afternoon tea too:D
Helped out at Scope today (had to miss last week because of OH's hospital appointment). I always enjoy the odd morning there, having a good old rummage, cup of tea and a choccie biscuit, and enjoying a good chat and laugh with the gang.
Picked up a few bits and pieces, a casserole dish for me to use, a couple bits of kitchen kitsch to sell on, and a lovely orange glass vase to keep.
I like unusual ceramics and glassware and although I do like shabby-chic as a "look", I am also gradually building up a collection of what I hope will be 20th Century classics. It's all good fun and who knows my (hopefully) future grandchildren may have of few items of value to inherit. I have a box of bits and bobs in the loft marked "future antiques":rotfl:
Off to make OH his afternoon cuppa.0 -
Maman, sorry to hear about your aunt, what a wonderful age to reach and still able to enjoy family and friends
You have a nice last memory of her.
Well done on your weight loss you must be doing something right:)
So you are moving away from black by shades :rotfl::rotfl: you will soon be in your bright colours, summer is very close. You will soon start your walks again, just enjoy your birthday (:bdaycake:) this weekend.
LL, I'm glad your mojo is working againWe do tend to cope better under pressure  Just enjoy your free time, if things get done than fine, if they don't than at least it is your choice when you want to do it
I hope your son manages to find a good car, there seems to be quite a lot of choice.
I had a lazy day today, craving bread so need to get it out of my system ( or in!) and start again tomorrow
Going to have an early night with my book (Time Travellers Wife)
Bon weekend.

Just a quickie. Forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday, Maman. Have a lovely, fab weekend, don't worry about the calories - you can think about them next week.:D
DS2 bought me the Time Traveller's Wife, not read it yet. There's a film too I think - not seen that either!! Just read a book called "Elegance" by Kathleen Tessaro (or something like that). Quite enjoyed it. About a girl who revamps her wardrobe and reinvents herself when her marriage goes pear-shaped.
Only caught the news this evening about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. To think that yesterday I had the nerve to moan about feeling a bit tired, makes me feel ashamed of myself.
G'night everyone, have a good weekend.0 -
You just have to laugh
Today drove 32 mile round trip to pick up OH's meds from hospital (he's on a special drug trial and drugs only available through hospital). Did ok for time so thought I'd pop into the supermarket and do some shopping.
Got to the checkout and couldn't find purse in my handbag. Had to abandon my shopping and dashed home to report to the bank and stop cc cards, debit card. Half an hour later found purse (in the hessian bag which I take shopping and which holds all my long-life carrier bags etc).
This sort of thing - keys/purses etc used to happen a lot when I was in my peri-meno phase before I started HRT. I recently tried stopping HRT but have just started up again albeit on a reduced dose. I'm sure this absent mindedness is hormone related.
G'night everyone, hope you are having a good weekend.0 -
Lovely day here - spent a happy hour or so mooching around the garden centre this afternoon.
Finally got to the bottom of the ironing pile :j Going to try and not let it build up again.
Today's treatment - facelift facepack.
Also tried out the new silver enhancing shampoo. Can't see drastic change but I think it "builds" over time - I suppose in the same way as the Olay Daily Sunshine I've started using. I use the Olay 2 or 3 times a week and that's enough for me.
Anyway if anyone is interested - its called Pro:voke Touch of Silver. There is a twice a week brightening shampoo and then for inbetween times there's a daily maintenance shampoo. About £5 the two. There's also a conditioner and hairspray in the range. Haven't bought them though - thought I'd just try the shampoos first.
Hope you are all well.
Off to bed now.0 -
Helllllllllllp,
I have lost my motivation!
The last few days have been very difficult, I have been eating without thinking which I have not done since we started on this quest to fabness!
I feel sluggish this morning and very cross with myself.
I'm not sure if it is because this lurgy is taking so long to clear up (three weeks in total now) my head feels like it is wrapped in cotton wool, all muffled, treatment finishes on Wednesday so lets see what happens.
Please give me some advice or a kick up the bum, what ever will work
On a lighter note, it is a beautiful day today, the window boxes look beautiful, I think I may scrounge a 'lump' of pampas grass from my neighbour. We plan to remove a couple of conifers that have got out of control and spoiling the views, the pampas will replace them, I believe they are slower growing?
I hope you are all well?
