Hotwire Hotel Booking Problem - Advice Needed
SFC2010
Hi Everyone,
Back in July I booked a hotel in New Orleans through "Hotwire" for 2 nights in April 2011. The boutique hotel was in the French Quarter and was only $59 a night.
In October I received an email stating the hotel had changed it name but that it still holds your reservation so all is fine.
Then tonight I receive a phone call from Hotwire saying that the Hotel has changed owners and that the new owners have cancelled all of Hotwire's bookings. So therefore Hotwire want to issue a refund for my booking. I said I didn't wish to have a refund and told them I would phone back after looking at the terms and conditions of the booking. (she did mention she could help me look for an alternative)
Having looked at what small print I could find there seems to be no mention of hotels cancelling their contracts with Hotwire.
Does anyone know what rights I have?
Can I insist on a same quality hotel (or higher!) in the French Quarter for the same price? A quick look on hotwire.com sayd the cheapest hotels are now $180 a night.
We thought we had been good and well prepared booking so far in advance but now this
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James
PS sorry for long post!

As far as I am aware your contract will be governed by US law, so you will need to check what your rights are in the jurisdiction.Gone ... or have I?0
