Tonight, my computer whacked up the message that windows had detected a spyware infection.
I've downloaded and run scans from AVG Anti-Spyware and Ad-Aware SE, which found loads of bugs. These have been cleaned and put into quarantine, but the spyware infection icon keeps popping up in my toolbar.
I'm a bit of a computer dunce, but is there anything else I can do/something that I'm not doing?
I know it's late - I've been at this for about 2 hours now!!!
Please help me - I've never been infected before lol!

you could try windows defender
or use msconfig or autoruns or hijackthis to get rid of it
also, do scans in safe mode,
there is a sticky thread at the top of the page about malware.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
theres a step by step guide here
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269
just follow posts 1 to 4
the toolbar may be under Add/Remove programs....do that and then follow the above staright away in Safe mode as it tells you
if it persists afterwards then post a hijackthis log here, it tells you how at the end of post 4Ex forum ambassador

Thanks both of you (albertross I did click the thanks button - but it seems to have disappeared!)
Now that I'm a bit more awake I've seen the sticky thread!
This morning the computer has started fine and touch wood, the icon has not appeared on the toolbar. Hopefully it's sorted, but if not then I'll try the four step method!0
