Asda wine debacle

Just thought I would share this experience in case anyone is thinking of taking advantage of asda wine deals at the moment.

I ordered 12 bottles of sparkling wine and 6 sauvignon blancs(currently on the 3 for £10 deal). So 18 bottles in total. The delivery man turned up with a basket full of broken wine bottles saying that the catch on the van door was broken so some of them got damaged. We accepted 7 of them but got them inside to realise that the foil is coming off all of them and the labels are ruined.

We phoned Asda and their customer service was terrible. My husband and I both spoke to Isaac. His first line was well you've accepted them so tough. I explained that the bottles of wine were so damaged that they are simply not fit for sale. His next suggestion was that if we wanted to return them we would have to go to the Enfield store (over 12 miles away) in order to do so. After I refused to get off the telephone line until the situation had been resolved he finally agreed to arrange a pickup on Saturday so that the bottles can be returned.

What a waste of time - I should have known better than to order from Asda.

Whats wrong with the labels being a tad ruined, are they for gifts, they're still sealed so does it also matter if the foil is coming of

They wouldn't sell them like that in the store, or if they did they would be greatly reduced in price. So why deliver them to customers who have paid 'the full in store price' for them.

It was stupid to accept the delivery at all! I would have refused the whole order and arranged a refund or new delivery.

They were 3 for £10, so why accept 7 bottles? If you do accept a partial delivery, accept 6 bottles for the deal and send the seventh back as you probably paid full price for it.

I'd accept it too, if it was delivered like that, but I wouldn't pick it off the shelf in the supermarket unless it was reduced in price.

If it was a good offer and it was just the labels that were damaged I would buy them!!

I am not feeling a great deal of love for you with your issue. It was an accident and you accepted the wine - surely "ruined" labels should have been easy to spot if that was a critical factor for you?
