  • i rung the council this morning and they said it was in the hands of the baliff how can i get it reffered back to the council so they can deduct out my wages?x

    Don't quote me as I am not 100% sure but I think what happens is if they cannot gain entry or talk to you after they have tried a couple of times they will then pass the debt back to the council.

    Please get in touch with the guys in the link that has been posted they are very knowledgeable on the all of this and will help.

  • ive jus been told that usually if council dont get the money it gets sold to the baliffs and best way to stall them is for my house mates to tell them ive done a bunk and they legally cant look round the property etc and then in that case usually gets passed bk to the council

    they are coming tomorrow some time i did read about if it gets reffered bk to the council i can ask them to take a percentage out of my wages how do i get it reffered back to the council? they said they have a warrent what happens if they phone the police? xx

    You can ask the council but they dont have go for an Attachment of Earnings.
    I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
