Hi there, I am in need of help in regards to my Landline. We were with Bt for almost 3 years, and were happy customers. We were approached at our door step by a salesman from TalkTalk, who used a very pushy manner to convince us to sign up to TalkTalk. I wasnt very happy about signing up, as i felt we were almost forced to do this. In the mean time, i rang BT and informed them that i didnt want to move to talk talk, and that i wanted to remain a bt customer. The rep told me i need to ring talk talk to cancel, and that i wouldnt need to do anything else. So On the 3rd november, I rang talk talk customer service to Cancel the service, I was well within the 14 day cooling off period. She did try and convince me to stay, But i made it clear that we wanted to Cancel. She agreed and told me i wouldnt need to do anything. I thought nothing of it thereafter. Then as i was about to make a call to my mother, I noticed a change in the phoneline! and there was a message saying welome to talk talk. I lost my current internet connection by o2 aswell.
this was a huge dissapointment. I rang talk talk to ask what was going on, It took me over an hour to finally talk to someone. The rep was very rude, and told me that i have to stay with talktalk or i would incur cancellation charges. I asked to talk to a manager, but she said he was unavailable. I then said i would take the matter to ofcom, Then she said that she will sort the problem out and cancel without charges.
i thought the matter was solved.
i got a letter in the post a few days later asking me to contact the manager on a landline number, when i did this, there was a messsage saying that this person had left the company, and was given a 0870 number to ring instead.
life without landline has been extremely diffiult. So many people have tried contacting me, And being a full time carer for my disabled daughter, its even harder, as i would often make calls and ofcourse recieve calls.
i rang again and tried to make a complaint, and kept getting cut off!
a few more days passed,. and i reieved another letter from talktalk. They said they have been unsucesful in contacting me on the phone, and that once i clear the balance of £62 i would be disconnected.
I just didnt understand what was going on!
i waited a few more days and recieved another letter saying that i no longer needed to pay the balance and that they will disconnect me without charge.
i thought everything was solved. I rang bt to ask them to re-connect me, and bt said i had to pay £127.99 charge and i wouldnt recieve the same phone number which ive had for almost 5 years!
i just cant afford to pay a huge amount to re-connect, especially as i dont feel i am to blame for this.
I have been trying to contact talk talk to ask them to return my phone line, and they have told me that it was bt fault, and they cant do anything.
i feel im getting nowehere, and going round in circles.
Internet is very important for my daughters special needs, it helps her to focus. and calms her down alot. We have been without internet since 11th november, and it has been extremely difficult for me, as im now having to have to take my daughter to my parents house on a daily basis so she can use the internet.
it has really made life extremely difficult.
I just want to solve this problem and get back on with my life.
We assumed if we took out landline with another provider, such as virgin or o2, that it might be cheapest option. So i rang o2 home phone, and they told me the normal price for home phone and broadband is £15.50/month, but because there are no lines free in the exchange, and that the exchange is full in our area, we would need to pay £25.50/month! and also would need to pay a £85 fee to re-connect the line, as our line has been completely disconnected!
where do we go from here? I am already financially struggling, being a fulltime carer!!
please help me solve this. Just when i think i have got somewhere, it backfires.
I dont think i have the energy to make any more phone calls and emails and letters to talk talk.
any help advise would be really really appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!
