Is it worth buying the sheets you put in with the washing to stop static/make it smell nice? If so, which ones are best?
Yes - I've just got a tumble dryer:j

I use the Tesco brand Tumble Dryer sheets and they smell lovely. They do get rid of a lot of static and cat hair!Competition Wins:

I cut mine in half - I don't use them for everything though, mostly the sheets and my undies, and t shirts. I use tumble dryerballs which are IMO superb, they help reduce creasing and I worked out once that they reduced the drying tme by about 15-20% (Yes I did, I washed the same amount of towels and dried one lot with the balls and one without, and the ones using the balls were softer, fluffier and dried quicker.)It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

dryer balls are fabulous.. loud though!!
I don't use td sheets at all and never have a static issue.. I do use fabric conditioner though so the laundry smells nice already and not the nasty oily smell of the sheets and I did find the sheets left greasy marks on the clothes.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Oh, I'm fairly new to tumble drying. What are the sheets for?
I don't use fabric conditioner, washer / dryer balls or tumble dryer sheets.
Do I need them?

I just loathe the smell of fabric softner and drier sheets - why of why would you do that - especially when you are after the lovely fresh smell from outdoors not a contrived perfume - its awful - makes me sneeze! I just use t tree oil a few drops in the rinsing drawer fresh and antibac tooSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

funnily enough, fabric conditioner is one of the things I would struggle to give up. Personally, I'm absolutely addicted to the smell. Might need to go and have a quick sniff now lol
Interested in the balls though - they sound like a Lakeland kinda thang...:D0 -
I have tumble dryer balls and cannot praise them enough! they look like dog toys though! I have seen them at various prices though so shop around! I bought mine @ 2 for £1.99 from a local garage - then the local pound shop had them! BUT, I have also seen them in Supermarkets costing £4.99 for two! a friend of mine said that clean tennis balls do the same thing! and they cost her £1 for 4 in, of course, the poundshop!0
