How Much Notice Do I Have To Give?

I have been living in a private rented house since April. I signed a 6 month lease when I moved in, which ran out on 26th Oct and I haven't signed anything else since then.
I'm going to be moving in with my BF next month. How much notice do I have to give my landlord?

I don't have a 'rent day' because my LHA is paid directly to the landlord. Would it be the 26th as that's what date the tenancy started? If it is, would I be able to send the notice early and say that I wish to give notice as of 26th Dec and leave on 26th Jan?
I'm desperate to get out of here, I've had nothing but trouble since I moved here. I'm so glad I didn't sign another lease! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
If your tenancy started on the 26th of the month (double-check your tenancy agreement) then it will end on the 25th, so you should give notice asap IN WRITING and ask your landlord to confirm the check-out on whatever day suits you on or before the 25th of January.
Don't forget to inform your Local Authority that the tenancy is ending so they don't continue to pay your LHA for that property.0
