Everyone pretty much has a fixed income that they have to budget for, working people don't get extra money if its very cold and if you're fit and healthy and don't have small children you don't need extra money. Put a couple of jumpers on and get yourself a blanket, thats whay i have to do and I work full time.0

it.s because of people like you that goverment departments get away with paying people payments thay are entitled in severe weather. we all pay are taxes and should not be trying to save goverment money due to those who need it most. we are taxed on everything in this country and im sure you would not be on this site if you wernt trying to save your self some money in some way. the people with most always seem to moan about the poor get off the goverment band wagon and help your fellow countrymen not kick them when they need you scrooge. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer because of attituids like yours.:prichard9991 wrote: »also healthy people on jsa should be out of the house looking for work so dont need to heat it all day0

People on income related benefits (and I include myself in this) do NOT generally pay taxes like employed people. When I worked, I deposited a cheque for some £10,000 each month for the PAYE and NI on my company payroll, and the tax and NI that employees pay cannot be compared in any way with VAT on purchases.
When you get your money in a state handout, you're not kidding anyone into thinking that you are paying your taxes.
EDIT: Sorry for the rant, socialist rubbish like that spouted earlier makes me very angry.0

So it's not ok for the average benefit claimant to go cold but it is ok for people who work and are on low incomes to do so? Even if they are disabled or have kids in their household?0
