Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

My colleagues all think that I am completely batty because I have bubble wrapped my bathroom windows.
Dunno if this is embarrassing or not but I will offer it as a tip in case anyone else finds it useful.
I water down my full fat milk to make it go twice as far, milk at half the price, and it dosent make that much difference to the taste or milkiness.Well this year I received a Christmas card from a friend who had clearly re-used them. She simply crossed out the names of the recipient and sender and wrote in new ones, then added a personal message for me at the bottom :eek:0 -

1. why bother - who are showing the labels to and more importantly where did you get them from in the first place - also you leave yourself wide open to ridicule if someone knows/realises you're lying, and I don't understand why it matters in the first place. If someone compliments your outfit, why would kn0owing where it came from/the brand suddenly change their mind?
2. Trying to return an item to a shop when you didn't buy it there is illegal and wrong, and I doubt most stores would accept it back without proof of purchase.
3. I wouldn't try this unless you are willing to keep the dress, (not to mention it's serious deception) a. you could damage the dress while wearing it making it unreturnable anyway. b. most shops will check condition of returned items at least to notice smells, deodorant - even if it's been washed they may notice the smell of washing powder on it!
Quite agree - and I've certainly noticed a couple of people "buying" clothing they have no intention of keeping, wearing it once and then getting a refund on it. That is one that particularly annoys me - as it potentially affects me (ie that I might pay a new price for clothing - only for it to turn out to be secondhand because of this practice). I don't think some shops DO check returned clothing adequately to ensure this hasnt happened. I've bought a jumper before now - and as soon as I went to put it on I could smell cheap perfume on it. Quite clearly it was secondhand - so I had to take it back to the shop and point this fact out and get a refund. I didnt bother buying a new version of this jumper from the shop - I was too annoyed with them for letting another customer pull this stunt on me.
These days - I check that clothing IS new myself before I buy it.0 -

I've given up bottled water (I love different bottled waters and really can id them by taste and hate our tap water) for money saving and this Christmas dh got me two six pack big bottles of water. Its a treat, but I notice how much more hydrated I am. I do drink our tap water but less of it and with no relish, so I'm going to have to knuckle down to learning to develop a taste for it this year.
If you put a few shakes of lemon juice (I use bottled) in the glass before adding the water it improves the taste no end and it's not lemony enough to make you pull a face.'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

I once sat in a church at a wedding behind a very poshly dressed lady and the price label for her hat started slipping down from underneath the brim at the back. I did rather uncharitably wonder whether she had simply forgotten to remove the label or whether she was trying to go the "refund" route. I wonder what she would have done if I had sneakily pulled some nail scissors out of my handbag and discreetly snipped it off. :rotfl:0 -

Buy a water filter. Our tap water here is vile, not even palatable after boiling really. I bought a water filter cheap (don't remeber where) about 6 years ago and I use it every day, for drinking water and water in the kettle for tea. You're supposed to change the cartridges every 6 months, but in the time i've had it, i've used 3 cartridges. You can taste when the cartridges need replacing. I bought a box of 6 from costco for about £3. I keep mine in the fridge so I have nice cold water to drink.0 -
I did post this somewhere else but I re-use dental floss until it gets too stringy.I've been reliably informed that this is ok to do!0

My tap water is also vile. I now fill a jug from the tap and let it stand for a couple of hours before drinking it. It loses that chlorinated smell.0

I've tried filtering, and even filtering twice, but I'm afraid it still tastes yucky to me. Better, but yucky! It feels very spoilt and ''princess and the pea-ish'' but I really need to become less fussy because I won't spend on UK bottled water prices and I think its not ''green'' anyway to use so many bottles.0
