Whilst I do agree with what you've said, and also read it on the other forum, we've had mail redirected since we moved out. This hasn't though, stopped all mail going there, and they have rung me in the past and asked me to call and collect it.
When I was there doing the yearly check this week, they said there was mail, they forgot to give me it, and I forgot about it until I got home, that's why I put "stray" in inverted commas.
But they invited you to collect it - you are now planning to drop by without any notice or permission. For stray mail going forward, simply tell the tenants to pop it back in the mailbox and it will hopefully get properly redirected the second time around.
This spontaneous visit to their doorstep on a false premise will achieve nothing - it is unlikely that you will be able to verify any of your suspicions and worries that it is being used as a HB/JSA drop is something for the authorities to verify and act on.
The neighbour could tell you info that could be useful but is also likely to be unreliable or not privvy to helping you verify any private matters between the DWP and claimants.0 -
If this lad's been kicked out of his parents he would need a c/o address for his post, from benefits & LA if he's on the housing list. It's more than possible that he's sofa surfing & using your property just as a C/O.
Do the tenants have kids of a similar age he may be friendly with, if all his mates are on benefits then they probably wouldn't want him using their address in case they lose their benefits.
It could be all above board.0
