lloyds airmiles amex duo cards

hi, i followed the link from this site after looking into the Airmiles/Lloyds joint promotion. I received my card yesterday and when i confirmed what i though was my free offer I was surprised to find out that Airmiles and Lloyds offer different things under the same promotion. In order to get 1500 free airmiles voucher the rules change depending on which company you apply through. Airmiles say you get the voucher if you spend £10 on the Amex card. Lloyds say I have to spend £1500 within 3 months in order to get the voucher!!!!
Surely a joint promotion should offer the same incentive. Not in a million years would I have thought to have checked the airmiles website too when I had already followed this link from here for the joint promotion. Can airmiles and lloyds do this??

It isn't a joint incentive, LloydsTSB have a card that offers airmiles, but it is promoted differently on both sites.

Airmiles:

Spend £10 and get a voucher for 1,500 airmiles (you need to book 1 nights accommodation with airmiles during the 'holiday' to use the voucher).

LloydsTSB:
1 mile per £1 spend on the LloydsTSB Amex for the 1st 90 days max £1,500 spend (ie 1,500 airmiles).

Theoretically the airmiles offer is more restrictive (and potentially more expensive) due to the need to book a hotel via airmiles (if you have this offer though note their are some loopholes ie I used it a couple of years ago for London to Barcelona and booked a single night in Seville as it was the cheapest hotel available which I had no intention of using)

These always struck me as a complete con..... I have 140k odd airmiles stacked up separately with both BA and Star alliance and always either can't get a flight in any vaguelly convenient period or I can find a cheaper way of getting there without using them....

All my cards have been % cashback for years, at least then I know i'll actually realise the 'loyalty' benefit as unsuprisingly I always fiind some way to make use of cold hard cash

Agree that cashback cards are generally better, but the opening offer itself is good.

I think you are confusing airmiles with specific airlines collection schemes though, although there can be issues finding a flight on ocassion the miles price is all inclusive so there won't be a cheaper option.

thanks Dazza, you have told me more than Lloyds did, they said i had to spend £1500 in the first 3 months in order to get the voucher AND must also book a hotel night.

can anybody recommend a good cashback card? I always clear the balance off every month.

I've recently got one of the halifax rewards ones and plan to spend the first £300 per month on that then (having checked internet banking) switch back to my old 'fee free 1%' cap1 one.... should work out around 2% return and without being lumbered with a silly Amex card nobody accepts
