revua is possibly not the best example to use, as the £300 they claim to have lost included train tickets that are not yet bookable. ;)
    Gone ... or have I?

We are affected by this

Had booked tickets for 3rd July as easier with work/childcare etc. Also booked Ibis hotel but only rate available at time was the "no cancellations/changes/refunds rate" at £120.

We are now faced with booking another hotel room and writing off the original room or going up on the original day and just seeing a show instead.

Did try and get tickets for Monday so could have used the original room plus book the Monday night but no joy with tickets.

I think the least they could have done is give us the option of Monday tickets rather than just changing to Thursday.

i would put the tickets and hotel room on ebay as a package.

put the starting price or buy it now price at an amount to cover your initial outlay as best you can.

then, just after christmas, you will find plenty of take that tickets for sale on ebay for under £100 each (prob nearer £60).

you CAN still find lots of cheaper hotels in London and should pay much less than that £120.

with a bit of luck, you should be able to get tix/hotel for a weekend date for the same outlay as original.

    good luck

    Thanks for the reply.

We have decided to bite the bullet and book another hotel a bit further away from Wembley at a cheaper rate for the 30th June (the night that the 3rd July has been changed to).

I had been trying to get tickets for the 4th July and book a 2nd night at the same hotel to at least make use of the room we had booked on 3rd.

I had considered just listing the room on Ebay as couldn't see how it could be a package as the night and concert are diff dates. How easy is it to list just a hotel room and what happens re forwarding the confirmation without giving away personal details? Also if they trash the room who is liable?

If they trash the room (or just smoke in it) you will be liable!

Most hotel booking conditions will forbid you selling on the rooms, and if they find out could blacklist you meaning you cannot use them again.

That's why we are not going to do it - not worth the hassle.

The cynic in me thinks that the Ibis knew there was a possibility of a date change as the only rate bookable was a " no changes" rate whereas now its possible to book 2 different rates for the new date. We have booked a different hotel on principle as dont want to pay the Ibis twice. Did call the hotel but they wont change the room booking at all. Could possibly have claimed on our annual travel insurance policy but £50 pp excess so not really worth it.

I must admit I think it's a bit of a cop out for the organisers.

IF they have to change a date for reasons beyond their control then fair enough, but to change a date for their benefit should not be allowed without some sort of compensation.

I must admit, I wonder if a class law suit was brought against them if the courts would see it the same way?

I recon they probably would, but it would take a test case to find out and no one is going to start a law suit for a few hundred quid.
