  • Hi
I have been to CAB I owe £70000 all in my name, nothing joint. I do not work as did not need to, then things went awfully wrong. I have been depressed for 3 years and have been struggling with it myself,my husband used to deal with all the money as he was the earner, we had a comfortable life until about May last year when things went downhill in his job. He is a sports trader ie lays and bets on all sports, I gave him permission to use my cards to pay things and use for bills etc, we used to live off the card and pay them each month, that was until May, he did not tell me that things were getting worse and worse as I was ill and he was worried about me. However in September he finally told me what state we were in and I tried to end my life. As you can see I did not suceed, anyway he found me which messed his head up and then would not go to work afraid i would try again (which I will not) I am now under Mental Health and have been since September.

I went to CAB hoping they would help me but the lady I saw was only concerned in what my husband does as a living and that it will not be looked on very well if I go bankrupt. But I know I have to as I do not earn anything.

We rented for £1650 per month, never not paid any bills or rent, we have now moved and pay £675 per month and bills will be lower, we sold his car which we had bought cash for £32,000 back to Audi for £19,000 which we lived off and carried on paying the credit cards minimum amonth.

Now I have not paid any cc for 3 months

So sorry to ramble on but it is all in my name so how will this impact on my husband? He can cover the outgoings just and I am not in a fit state to work at the moment, seeing a chap on Thursday re what or if I can apply for any benefits

My main worry is the nature of my husbands job, or should I not have to worry about this? he is self employed and never knows what he is going to earn

    many thanks
