I just want to see where I stand in regards to not paying my electric bill - don't get me wrong I want to! Its just that on the 6th December my accounts were billed and online it updated my electricity account to being £33 in debit however they never gave me an actual bill for it. I did contact them about this but they said it would be updated 'soon'. I fear Ive probably already lost my prompt payment discount (not on DD as Im soon switching suppliers) but my point is - is it unreasonable to not pay the amount until they send me the bill - obviously I don't want to get into trouble for not paying it but I want to be able to see what Im being charged for first.

    I'm confused.

If you are on a tariff that allows you to pay on receipt of bill, of course you don't have to pay anything until you get billed. This appears to be what you are on as you speak of a prompt payment discount. Such discount is typically allowed if you pay within a certain time of being billed.
If you've agreed to online billing, then the bill will be available to you online (rather than sent via post)

If, however, you have agreed to a regular payment method (typically monthly) then you have to pay as per the agreed frequency/amount. If you change supplier, you'll get a final bill that will account for any difference owed.

Everything is done online - the amount of my account has changed to £33 in debit but they have not sent me the supporting bill online to go with it...for example on my gas it says Im £53 in debit and the bill for the amounts used is viewable online but the electric it just says that there are no current bills despite them having changed the amount owing....
