Windows7 upgrade for students.

Early this year I found out from Martin that a company was offering an upgrade to Windows7 for £30 as a special offer to students.
As I am a postgraduate student I responded to the offer and was sent the upgrade as an attachment to an e-mail.
I can only access the internet via my laptop using a dongle connector on a Vodafone account. This normally allows me 3gb of download, usually more than enough for my needs. I attempted to download the application which typically took around 20 minutes to download. Once the download had "completed" I attempted to open it only to findthat the most important component wouldn't open. After three further attempts to download failed I wrote to the company asking for a CD-ROM so I could install the application. They did send me one and eventually I was able to install it.
However, when I checked my phone bill after the downloading my bill had rocketed by £75. I firmly believe that this is solely down to the failure of the application to download properly.
I was wondering if any other students have had any problems with this offer?

You could have gone to a cafe or pub with free wi-fi and done it there, maybe getting a program to monitor your usage in future would save this happening to you again, wasn't really a saving in the end.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

In 20 minutes you're not gonna hit 3Gb or data usage, so I suspect you didn't download the complete ISO..3 times.
or maybe it took substantially longer than 20 minutes each time, but you didn't know what to do with the downloaded file,or maybe it really was a failed download each time.
Sorry to say this, but I believe that you exceeding the data limit of your ISP is down to you, not whichever company you downloaded from. Speak to the ISP, they may reduce the cost if you plead your case to them.
As the earlier poster suggests, you really should have gone somewhere with a fixed line to download what was obviously going to be a large file, in the region of 4 Gb I believe (was the filesize not mentioned in your email or any part of the download process?)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
