Last year I bought some nice ones half price and then unpicked the bows from one end, slipped in a christmassy scratch card in each and a little wrapped chocolate
They were such a success I intend to do it again this year

They had the kits today in Home and Bargain. Think they were £1.49 for 6. They were silver.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Loads of kits come up on Ebay if you type in 'christmas cracker making'
I usually buy Boots family crackers which always have good gifts for a range of ages. They've got 12 in a box for £7.99.

I bought these today and they're great.
I make mine every year but this set seems better than most AND cheaper!!
The pack includes the decorations, a joke and a snap. They are silver and red.
I write the initials inside the top of the cracker so everyone gets what they like.
In the past I have put in alsorts including- jewellery, toys, chocs, shrink wrapped socks(M&S) etc etc
I give my hisuband mine to fill so I also get a surprise!!:jNewbie Comper

Some good ideas - I like the idea of hunting for tiny pressies to sneak into shop-bought crackers.
Any recommends for the best value shop-bought 'posh' crackers peeps?0 -

I think it's Home Bargains that is being referred to on this thread (correct me if i'm wrong). It's a midlands/northern based store that sells things on the cheap basically.
Website is... http://www.homebargains.co.uk/... but as you are based in Kent, it's a long way to go for a bargain :rofl:0 -
Just found some nice looking DIY crackers.

Asda has 8 for £1 (I bought a pack reduced to 80p today) .If all you want to do is open the end and replace the prize ,they are good enough. I usually buy wilkos crackers in Jan when they go down to 25% of the original price but this year I missed them. I put in things I have made.We have done ,badges , pencil toppers , magnets and key rings .I hunt for jokes on the weband print them out to replace the really silly ones you get. One year my DD made wizard hats and we just put a token in the cracker to see which hat you would get.0
