She'll need lessons. Depending on where she goes for them, they may have arrangements for using a guitar in class before buying one of her own, and will often have special discounts with local music shops.
I don't think she's even got as far as thinking about that, she just wants to strum something at the moment! In the end I went for the Harmony guitar on ebay and got it for £36. It was nearby so no postage charge, and I have to say it looks absolutely fantastic! It says Harmony on the guitar but was in a Redwood box.If she only ever plays it once or twice then I can get my money back, or if she loves it she can upgrade at some point... Thanks for all your help0
