Anyone having problems with Tiscali?

I am receiving email ok and can access the internet.

I use Tiscali as my isp, and use outlook and various pop3 email accounts. I am using smtp.tiscali.co.uk for sending my email.

Just this evening, everytime I try and send email I get a message back 'sending error reported...'

Anyone else suffering the same, or any suggestions as to what is wrong?

I've just tried sending a message via smtp.tiscali.co.uk and got it shortly after. I use IMAP rather than POP3 to receive messages, so I don't know if that makes a difference...

Just tried again and get the following error code:

0x80042109

Anyone have any experience of this?

The site is admitting to problems in the Carlisle area; don't know whether that's relevant.

It's all working OK for me at the moment, but I find Friday evenings and w/ends can be difficult, especially when they won't admit they're carrying out maintenance.

Basically their email server was down but probably working again by now. Unfortunately there is no way for them to tell you it is not your fault.

By the way, if you want a laugh, try Googling 'Tiscali complaints' .

Bumped to say, here I am some 14 hours later, still unable to send email.

Does anyone have a UK based customer service number for tiscali. Just been through their Indian call centre and spoke to some individual who wants me to compeltely reinstall all six of my email accounts. I have lost the will to live!

I just need to speak to someone who does not repeat everything I say as a question.

Any numbers? I guess probably not!

I hate to bring you bad news but - my father had similar problems to you. He went via the call centre and tech support still no luck they just said his computer was at fault. So my father paid for some chap to look at his computer, all he did was remove outlook and replace it with thunderbird and all for the princely sum of 40 quid?? still no success. In the end he checked his mail via the web and purchased hs own domain name to get around the problem.

OK, another development.

Just occurred to me to try using my 3g data card. Gone on line, changed smtp details as I always have to, and still the same problem. So it appears that it is not Tiscali at fault but it now seems that Outlook is at fault.

Help!

Tried that, no difference, still error saying cant find smtp.
