Beagle seperation anxiety!!

Now I knew before I got my gorgeous pup that Beagles are prone to seperation anxiety but this is mad lol

He's a gorgeous boy, intelligent, hilarious, looks soo funny running around the house with his nose to the ground, finding smart !!!! ways to get something he likes the smell of lol and very very cuddley but if he's left alone my word the noise!!!

If we nip to the shops quickly, once we're out of the front door he soon becomes quiet and remains so until he knows we're back.BUT if we're in the house and leave the room he's in he'll cry, then howl then bark and just does not stop until he hears you talk to him or sees you!!

I put him in his crate to try and help with this (and so the daft sod doesn't chase us or get up to any mischeif!!!) but no difference except when we actually leave the house. If he knows we're not going out but just leaving the room while he's in there he instantly gives me the sad Beagle face which is incredibly hard to resist:rotfl: Then comes the noise!!!

Any suggestions to help with our otherwise almost perfect pup (may be perfect if he didn't have a thing for my sons soiled nappies:eek::rotfl:)
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?

Have you taken him to training classes? My suggestion would be to start with teaching him to 'wait' in either the down or sit position. Then make the time that he has to wait long until you're up to about 2 minutes. From there go on to being half in and half out of the doorway, then finally progress to making him wait while you are out of the room. Then eventually he will get to realise that he gets a reward when you get back and not when he demands it.

The difference between 'wait' and 'stay' in my eyes is 'wait until I come back' and 'stay until I call you' if that makes sense!

He's been to a couple of training classes but temporarily had to put them on hold due to ds being off school (until april so need to sort something else out for him,he is very well trained with everything else though!!)...which I' sure they were disappointed by as he's so stupidly friendly he has to great absolutely everyone he sees:rotfl:

Will give your suggestion a go.Just wish his sad beagle face didn't make me go so gooey lol

He's getting better thankfully :D Bless him, still manages to make me feel a little guilty with that sad face but he's doing well.

He seems to be occupying himself a bit more when not in his crate when I leave the room too....by remembering something he's 'buried' in the sofa:rotfl::rotfl:
