We use a small sitting room in winter but we've got Sky in the main living room. How can we view Sky without upgrading our subscription?

some coax cable and a magic eye from argos
but it would only means you could watch the same channel not seperate channelsReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Thanks for such a quick reply. Could I please ask you to explain that in English to a non-techie

On a Sky box there is an RF2 output.
You run a co-ax (normal TV type cable) from this to the other room.
Connect this to a magic eye , then plug the output of the magic eye into your TV.
Tune TV to see the output of Sky box.
Your Sky remote will now control the Sky box through the magic eye.0 -

You need to go into settings on the Sky box and make sure the power is switched on for the RF2 output.0 -
a linux based satelite receiver, around 100 quid, would even let you watch different sky channels at the same time0

In Plain English:
You need to buy an AV Sender - this is a wired or wireless device that can transmit TV and remote control signals from one point (room) to another - wireless range is usually under 30ft.
The 'Magic Eye' hardware is recommended for Sky, although cheaper alternatives are available. One part plugs into your 'remote' TV (sky box) and will send Sky remote control one way and receive Sky TV the other way to your TV in the other room.
A basic wireless set would cost about £40 or less

If you want to watch different things in different rooms, you could contact a local aerial chap or a handyman who deals with cabling and he could run a cable from the LNB on your dish (assuming they put a multi-way one on, if not it would have to be replaced, they are not particularly expensive) to the other room, you would need to get a new box for that room, and away you go. This might be quite an outlay though and might take a while to recoup! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

a very long HDMI cable would also do and deliver a higher quality signal but you'd likely neeed a second cable for the 'magic eye' if you wanted to change channel..... or some other techie way of operating it by remote from another room (probably some kind of stand alone sender exists)0

If you have a pc or laptop you could connect it up to a tv anduse sky player. Its free and very good.0

Many thanks everyone. I've got my (13 year old) techie working on it now
