  • What I find most upsetting, not amusing is that this thread is a fairly typical one on MSE:

One person asks a legitimate question, people rush to give their opinion as to why that person can't do anything instead of exploring all possible avenues, then ridicule anyone not agreeing with them, and the point of the original question gets lost, so busy are these people intent of nitpicking and proving their supposed superiority, without realising that all they are doing is falling right into the trap of never trying to think laterally and how the ones it benefits are always the big corporations. All this on what is supposed to be a consumer orientated site, it's very very sad.

Well, if OP wants to get some advice somewhere a bit more consumer-friendly, she should find it on CAG (see my sig). I'm not on it much these days either, but there are always people there who will be happy to advise without judging or descending into petty point-scoring.

    Merry Christmas everyone. :)

Compared to some threads this has been very civilised, I have quite enjoyed the debate and felt it has been quite light-hearted!

    Have a merry Christmas :)
    Thinking critically since 1996....

Confusion of terms appears to be your thing. I think you are confusing ridiculing for disagreeing.

Brilliant:rotfl: it's like you didn't even read the post, but you must have, and still posted that.

I have to say that this was the first time I had ever posted something on here, was after some genuine advice as I felt I was being treated unfairly. However after having read all the replies I don't think I'll bother again as the people posting on here seem to be far too interested in their own opinions to offer anything constructive! How disappointing.
