can i pay cheques made out to my children into my account?

hi all
my ex mother in law sent my children cheques this year for xmas (knowing thet dont have a bank account!) its only £10 each but i need it to get them some new clothes. can i pay it into my natwest bank account?

Dear Lord,so far today i am doing alright. i have not lost my temper, been selfish or rude.i have not cursed,whined or eaten any chocolate. HOWEVER, i will be getting out of bed in a minute and i will need a lot more help after that...amen

I dont think you can. why not just open a basic post office account for both of them, pay in the cheque and £1 and then when the cheque clears just withdraw the £10's, its left open for future cheques then.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The FSA may have allowed the banks to fail us all in spectacular fashion, but they do know a money launderer when they see one
you need to open a/cs for them ... a childs saving a/c would probably be suitable0
