can i pay cheques made out to my children into my account?

hi all
my ex mother in law sent my children cheques this year for xmas (knowing thet dont have a bank account!) its only £10 each but i need it to get them some new clothes. can i pay it into my natwest bank account?

Dear Lord,so far today i am doing alright. i have not lost my temper, been selfish or rude.i have not cursed,whined or eaten any chocolate. HOWEVER, i will be getting out of bed in a minute and i will need a lot more help after that...amen

I dont think you can. why not just open a basic post office account for both of them, pay in the cheque and £1 and then when the cheque clears just withdraw the £10's, its left open for future cheques then.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
