My husband has a letter and glossy brochure from a company 'free & easy life style ' who say they will deduct £99 from his credit card unless he rings them on a 0871 number. He does not know and has no idea which one . Has any one else had a a similar experience I think it is a con and they will try to rack up a large telephone bill. thanks in adance

Well if he hasn't given his card number out then they cant deduct from it however there is a thread on this on "who calls me" here"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

thats my take on it as well Optimist but he a pessimist !! the link you have given does not work0

They can't take your money without your card details.
Although I think you should refer the letter to Trading Standards or whatever body deals with such things. 'We'll deduct £100 from your account if you don't phone us!" Cheeky b**tards!

I would treat the said as unsolicited and let them come and sue Freddie for their wants0

They WILL take your money as they DO have your card details. They have the details from a site or company you have purchased from previously.
This bunch of legal crooks have been round for years. They regularly change their name. They rely on you purchasing over the net and TV shopping sites, hoping you will not read all of the T&C and tick boxes.
Last year they were the famous Travel Steps which made the National press - http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2009/05/clubbed-for-99-by-travel-steps.html
They also use names and links like break4free, Goodmusic and Ideal World.
When you purchase an item you are unknowingly signing up to a subscription and they will take your money if you dont cancel in 30 days. Horrible people, don't know how they sleep at night. Shows how rubbish Trading Standards and Consumer Law etc are in the UK.0 -
thanks you guys I have got him to cancel the credit card that is under the name they have quoted luckily its only used for his things and he uses it less than the others.0
