Most suppliers charge (which is a bit of a kick in the plums, esp if the meters were there when you arrived). The charges tend to be quite a bit, around £60 I believe.
There have been changes which mean most suppliers charge about the same for standard and prepayment, but you don't get any discount for paying by DD and you can't access the (usually) cheaper online tariffs.
I think there is a company which charges the same regardless of payment method, I forget thier name though. Argh its really bugging me now!
See if your current supplier will change the meter, some will free of charge if you are a new tenant. The problem is the job costs, and they tend to ry and pass that on. Another alternative is if you have a good payment history with another supplier at a previous address they may change the meters for free if you go over to them. Check with them first though.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
