I cannot stress how much better reputable local PC repair shops are compared to PC World. I've worked in one, my friend runs one and we always made sure we were fair and honest.
Back on the subject - What computer is it? What are the specs? How old is it?
If its only a few years old, you could probably get it fixed for £50 - 100, whatever the problem may be. Definitely worth consulting a professional first before dumping a perfectly decent PC.0 -

control panel, system, hardware
find the instance id of any unknown devices and google it to find the drivers, or go to the manufacturers website!!

Minor Point - You'll need Control Panel in Classic View to go via System & Hardware.0

DO NOT try and install the bb cd, this is NOT what you want. You need the specific drivers for the hardware in your PC. Use one of the kid's comps, go to the website of your pc manufacturer, and download the network/LAN/however they describe them driver (and the display/graphics ones) onto a usb stick. then transfer them ont your pc and install them from the device manager
......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
