Best Sykpe Cameras

Hi guys, I'm trying really hard to call my family who don't live in the UK for free on Skype.

My cousin has a Mac with built in camera, so I can see her, but my Dell laptop has no camera built in, only a mic, so I need to buy one asap so we can see each other!

I'm new to Skype but it seems easy to use. Does anyone use a Dell and has bought a webcam? What is the best one to use?

And if anyone knows of any offers, that would be great. Not sure how much I should be spending on this type of thing! Any help would be brill!

Thanks in advance!

The first one I got was logitech, cost around £30 at the time from Lidl
That was a couple of years ago, it still works (on a Dell PC) -doesn't have any fancy features and you need good lighting but it does the job!

I have the LogiTech quick cam pro - the Mac version , even though I don't use it on OSX.

It wasn't cheap, about 70 I think...., but it works really well and is good quality.
  • I think the LogiTech quick cam pro 9000 (i think that's what it's called, seems to be the best option so far!) I really am useless with this stuff! Seems to be reduced on Amazon at the moment too! Thanks guys!
  • Logitech is a well-known brand but the best seller on amazon is under £10, I'd try that first! And it has super-saver delivery (free) too!
~If it's cheap cosmetics, fashion or shoes, I want it. Especially shoes. Did I mention I like shoes?~

I've had one of these for some time, and it is excellent. The new 'HD' version at £40 appears to be cheaper than the old version, unusually. About the best quality, but you can buy far cheaper (even less than £10, as SachaDavis says) if you want.

Microsoft ones start at around £20 online and have a decent microphone built in so avoiding an extra cable and clutter.
Whatever you do, get a major brand as software/driver support in the unknown cheapies can be non-existent.
