Oh sorry to hear that. My son and his new partner don't mind in fact they buy for all the children too not just his. He doesn't buy anything for his ex and her partner though. We've all tried to be this way as we feel it's better for all the children .Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

About £900.
£100 on new light decorations to replace the ones my husband appears to have 'lost' the adaptors for
£35 for the tree (thought that was very expensive)
£138 on food and drink (will last the week though)
£300 on OH present (a laptop, he doesn't have one)
£200 on mine.(digital camera, I don't have one)
£100 on friends
No credit cards. OH has been told he will be pulverised if he ever uses his again!0 -
A lot. Havent added up the final total yet but it is likely to be around £600 this year. Yes I am in debt so this is a massive amount to spend on Christmas but we live very frugally all year and Christmas is saved for.
This breaks down into £300 presents for our kids, £200 presents for our huge families (19 relatives) and £100 extra for food.
OH and I dont go out socially at all (and I really do mean that, we go to the pub twice a year at Christmas!), we dont have takeaways, we buy 90% of our clothes from charity shops and spend very little on hobbies etc. I have thought very carefully about every penny I have spent this Christmas and a good chunk of the budget for our kids goes on practical things like clothes, trainers and sports stuff that we would have bought them anyway.
We could cut the food budget if we didnt have all the family around for a buffet tea but I love this and its the highlight of my year.0 -
Ive just added my christmas spends up and ive spent £225. Ive over spent on presents this year. This doesnt include, the main christmas dinner and picky food as thats been paid for for me,(If i was paying for this i would have cut the amount spent on presents though) It includes the pudding and drink tho, presents, wrapping and bottles of wine for when i visit friends. It doesnt include petrol for family visiting though. I try to keep to £75 for food and drink and £125 for presents. OH and it also includes a box of chocs for me as a treat when chilling watching christmas movies. All cash no credit, as always.0

I would say approx 1800-1900 in our household. Spend loads on our 3 kids. Buy lovely presents for our 4 nephews and 2 nieces. Buy for BIL/GF, FIL/MIL, my dad, kids teachers. Extra food, but not loads, no alcohol, we aren't drinkers. Happy days ..............0

hmm i hadnt even considered how much i had spent until i read another thread on here earlier.
I estimate xmas 2010 to cost me about £1100 ish.
Im not sure if its more then others or less, i just love xmas and its the one time of the year i get to spend. I dont get my hair done, or my nails- i rarely have nights out. So if having a splurge at xmas is my guilty sin then i can live with that lol. I dont get into any debt doing so, all is baught with cash- previous years i would do but started early this year and now i can relax and not have to worry about paying for it the following yearMummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas

As there's only 2 of us on the actual day we haven't really got anything in that we wouldn't usually have... OH insists on a large gammon joint though.Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

probably about £1500-£2000 but i have 5 boys to buy for so £150 each for little ones, £250 2 elder ones
my mum spend £25, dad £25, brother this year as went usa went overboard and got him a ipad £300, food shop as normal as having dinner at mums this year so about £80-£100 dont drink
I buy thoughout the year so lots bought in the sale or the odd ds game game a month so not noticed such a bit bite in finances ,
i dont normally get my brother a gift like that either normally £20 but hes been there for me and always is and is my only brother and love him so much , hes had it tough and although i use a crappy pc that misses letters out or freezes id rather get him his and i know he will use it for work and appreciate it.
next year will be cheaper as be £150/£200 each on kids same on mum,dad and brother
already started the sales and have bits for next year put away lol
