When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free! :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning All,

Hope people do not mind me starting the thread today, loads to do so need to post and run.

Hi to all new posters. Hugs to those that need them.

Today I have/will
• Checked online banking – DD money has gone back in :T
• Check emails
• Breakfast and dinner from storecupboard
• Having a work Xmas lunch in the restaurant downstairs :o
• Used my rail pass to get to work
• Catch up with friends on FB rather than texting people

  • Good morning everyone. I'm at DDs today as it's a "Grandma Day" so DGD and I are planning lots of exciting things. We'll be baking some Christmas goodies and having lots of visitors later so I doubt there will be anything left for the big day!! :o

    So far today I have:
    • checked banking
    • done a few rows of DGS's Christmas present
    I will also:
    • take DS3's Christmas present back as it's faulty - good job I checked before wrapping it
    • do loads of baking
    • just buy milk and bread
    • keep an eye on surveys
    • make dinner from DD's stores - possibly Chilli con Carne
Looks like a busy day with collecting DGS from school, visitors at 12noon and 4pm and baking too so I better get DS3 out of bed and head into town.

Thank you for what you said on yesterday's post. I only got chance to read it this morning and was really touched by your kind words.

Do feel free to post on the 101 things thread even though you haven't started yet. It's great to hear people's views over there. :)

  • Morning all,

Bit cold today isn't it? My manager isn't in a v. good mood today so I'll have to make this a quick one... he picked up a coffee for me this morning after offering to get them (not very DFW but I reeeeeaaaally fancied one!) and then complained that 'he didn't want change' when I had to raid my change pot to pay for the coffee! It's still legal tender! Grrr!

But anyway, things I'll be doing today...
    • Speak to my DMP manager today so I can get an update
    • Call my sister to see if my new card came in the post today
    • Won't be buying lunch as we have an xmas buffet at work :)
    • Using things up from the cupboard for dinner
    • Going to a friend's for movie night instead of going to the pub
Happy money saving guys and gals! x
