Booking online with on the beach

Hi

have found an excellent price with on the beach for a 2 week holiday. The flights that have been picked are easyjet ones. I note on one of the pages that it says you can add baggage at the rate of £18 per hold bag per leg - this is more expensive than booking direct with EasyJet. Can anyone advise if I have to book baggage via On The Beach or can I do it direct with Easyjet once the booking has been made. The pre-sales text on OTB is not too clear on this

Thanks

Lots of people on here have had lots of grief on here with onthebeach read some of their stories before you decide to book with them. Can you buy the flights with easyjet direct will that be cheaper, then get your hotel and transfers either with on the beach or other suppliers. Often the prices that onthebeach offer arent there and theyll ring you telling you the prices have gone up you have the choice to pay more or cancel. I dont think onthebeach holidays are classed as packages theyare individual components so if you were after the security of booking a package i dont think this counts, but im sure people will be along later advising you better.

from my mothers experience, if you want baggage pre-booking it is better to do it at the time of booking. when you get your flight ticket, it will have the flight reference number on for eazyjet, however you cannot access the manage my booking section (where you would normally add things on at a later stage) because you require the e-mail address that was used to make the booking, and this is the OTB e-mail, not yours. You can then ask OTB to add extra baggage at the current charge, however there will then be a 'service fee' of approx £30.00 to do this.

Also, just bear in mind what stephb mentioned, and the fact that the majority of holidays sold by OTB are not packages at all, just seperate elements that are sold at the same time.

If its a "flights and hotel" booking, then you are not buying a package holiday with OTB, they are just booking your flights and hotel separately for you, and taking a cut for the priviledge. But it is not a package holiday.

If they are booking them separately, then why don't you? IMHO it is always best to deal directly with an airline if you can, especially if you are unsure about extras and things. If you book direct with easyJet you will know exactly where you stand.

Then you can get your accomodation and transfers etc from OTB, or any other similar website. You may even save youself a few quid. But don't be fooled into thinking you are getting a package holiday, and therefore more protection, just because you book everything on one website.
  • thanks for the advice folks
