confusing layout

Okay so we viewed a 1 bed flat here today
http://www.findaproperty.com/displayprop.aspx?edid=00&salerent=1&pid=7896112
It has a confusing layout (building not actual flat)
Lift only goes to floors 2 & 5, corridor runs down middle of each floor (well 2nd floor at least), flat entrances on either side of corridor.
Upon entering the flat we go upstairs and the flat is actually running from front to back of 3rd floor. Some flats (2 beds) are over 2 floors. From the outside it looks, going by the windows, to be flat above flat - no space between each flat/floors windows. If the flats on the second floor go either upstairs of downstairs where are the actuall 2nd floor flats?
Obviously each flat would go from front to back.
Maybe I'm imaging this lol

I've confused even myself here lol

Do not buy a flat with a lift without checking what you are letting yourself in to regarding service charges.0

oh we are only renting0

What exactly is theproblem? You've viewed the flat and been shown the interior so you know what you are getting for your money..........0

The second floor could be the upstairs of the ground floor flats or there may be ground floor entrances with stairs leading straight upto flats on the second floor.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I know, just layouts annoy me if I don't get them lol
The flat is lovely. This is a top floor one:

Could very well be. Just the whole going up to the 2nd floor to get to the 3rd floor flat, maybe that floor isn't really there when looking at the building from the outside0 -
Clearly the flat you viewed today is in fact a virtual flat. It exists on the plan, but in reality the 2 floor is in the 4th dimension. The 3rd floor (which it goes without saying is accessed via the ground floor stairs) is in fact in the 6th dimension (the 5th dimension having been swallowed by a Black Hole).0

So the ground floors have an upstairs so this covers the Ground + First floor
The second floor has an upstairs so these houses cover floors 2 + 3
The fifth floor when you enter you have a floor and then you will go down stairs in the house to floor 4 so this cover floors 4 + 5
And the top floor you will have to take the stairs from level 5 like you do with most places that have a lift as they rarely go right to the top floor.
That how i see it as there are flats similar where i live in Glasgow0 -
That probably works for the other buildings.
For the building we viewed. Gound floor flat is over 2 floors - ground + 1st, 3rd floor flats are over 1 floor and accessed from 2nd floor, so 2nd floor flats must be accessed from 2nd floor and must go down stairs instead of up like the 3rd floor flats.0 -
the only question to answer before you sign an agreement is
would you be able to get home up/down/roundabout if you were drunk ?0
