Travel advice for Florida - no car?

I want to go to Florida in January, specifically to swim with manatees. I don't want to drive, but once I get up to Crystal River then I'm fine without public transport - I will stay in the hotel right next to where the manatee trips go from.
However, I will need to get from Orlando Airport up to Crystal River. Can anyone offer any advice as to how I can do this - either by public transport or taxi service?
Thanks in advance.

Florida is really dependent on the motor car, as far as I can see there is no public transport in or around Crystal Rivers at all... there is however one Greyhound bus a day from Tampa, which you can reach by getting another bus from Orlando. I suspect the times won't be good for you, the bus leaves Orlando at 1330, way too early for your flight from the UK, so you will have to spend a night in Orlando, changing at Tampa you will arrive at 1955 a long jouney but even worse coming back when you leave at 0935 and arrive at 1715, possibly too late for your flight home. Greyhound is not my prefered method of travel and if possible I would really recommend renting a car. A taxi would probably cost more than your flight, its 76 miles which would take about 1.5 hours and you would have to pay for a return journey both ways0

You might ask the hotel you are staying in for advice - they will know what's available - eg a local taxi company MAY run an airport shuttle0

If not, perhaps you would do better to ask this question on a travel specific forum such as Trip Advisor or Thorn Tree?0
