Lloyds TSB After bankruptcy

They usually close all accounts and most banks won't let you open a savings account when you're bankrupt.jonesMUFCforever wrote: »Since you cannot get or apply for credit (overdraft or loans etc) using a savings account - that is the reason they left the account open.

Ltsb will no longer offer accounts to those that have previously been bankrupt.0

They may, but as I've already said THEY DID NOT CLOSE MY ACCOUNT.jonesMUFCforever wrote: »Upon notice of bankruptcy appearing in the Gazette they will freeze your account. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT.0 -

That is not the case, I think the rule is here that there are inconsistencies, however, if you communicate with your bank and the OR you will be aware of what applies to you.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

When I opened our coop account I ask for a savings account and was told BR were not allowed to save by the guy on the phone, I was offerd a savings account by one of the telephone staff about 5 months into the br and was declined, so I waited until I was AD and opened a YBS internet saver 2.10% so happy days.
I would NEVER WANT TO BANK WITH LLOYDS AGAIN, THEY CAUSED OUR BR and for that I thank them but the stress they put me and my family through was something I will never forget and all for the sake of 5 days and £3k. I am happy to stick with my account from the Coop, it is all that is needed xxIf you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j0 -

OR said they would allow me to keep one account, they didn't mind which, they wrote to both banks - I decided to keep lloyds, as I have been with them a long time. They were happy for me to keep using the account, so I am doing so !
Hi there:
I read your msg and was wondering, did you also organise all d.d.'s and wages to go to your cashminder account just in case or merely just opened it. I'm with Llloyds Tsb too and hope they will let me continue using their select silver account. I've opened a Cashplus account in case but don't know whether I should transfer D.D's/wages straight away.
Thanks for your help.0 -

Very unlikely you'll be able to keep the TSB account...:(We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

As Phil said, it is very unlikely. You would be wise to get everything transfered just in case.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

I checked with my payroll dept, they said they could change accounts over with 7 days notice, so carried on with Lloyds, knowing I could change if needs be.
I made sure I went BR after I had been paid, withdrew all spare cash, leaving enough for essential DD's only (all set up to go out at beginning of month). Went BR on 8th, got clarification from Lloyds that they'd let me keep the account, had phone interview with OR on 15th, who was also happy for me to use Lloyds account. By 22nd I was using my account as if nothing had happened, and (*touches wood) have had no further issues since.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Although they would not give a final decision on me keeping the account until the actual letter came to them from the OR, hence why I opened a cashminder just in case.
They have been fair and reasonable throughout - that is my personal experience, can't say for anyone else tho!
I just went into my branch today and asked to speak to someone about bankruptcy. The officer didn't know much about it and had to ask his bank manager what they would do to my account. The bank manager just told me what I already knew, they would freeze my accounts as technically they are assets and wait for the courts (i.e the O.R) to tell them what to do. They said they as a branch wouldn't have any control on whether I get to keep the account or not as it will go through to the central control office. They weren't very helpful all in all.
I'm going to change my D.D's and wages to my cashplus card I got, as soon as I am declared.0
