have i been scammed?

hello,

last month i purchased clothes to the value of around £100 off an internet site that seemed legitimate...

after waiting ages for the clothes they even sent an email asking if i wanted to cancel the order, which i did on 25th november

I have STILL not received my refund despite numerous emails (only way to contact them) the last email said they were sending the cheque out that day....

my questions are

1) is there any way of checking online if they are legitimate
2) Do i instruct a solicitor and think about small claims court?
3) anyway of getting their md's name or contact phone numbers?
4) is there anywhere I can warn other customers about them? reviews etc?

please help!

Have you googled them to see if there are any reports online about them already?

How did you pay? If it was through a c/c or paypal you can recall the payment.

yeah i got the address, but is there anyway online to find if they are legitimate? to be fair the site looks professional

Hello... Well... Here's another one... I've lost out by £165. I ordered on 06/12/10 and initially communication was good - albeit putting my delivery off due to 'supplier issues'.

So today I visit thebigstore. co . uk - it's gone!! Nada!! Spookily enough I receive an email from a Gmail account, purporting to The Big Store themselves (alarm bells). It read:

"Good Morning,

First of all if you have not been emailed since you purchased your order, then I can only apologise, we have been inundated with emails after Christmas and are still working through them.

At present your item/s have been re-ordered due to supplier problems and are due to be arriving between the 25th - 30th January, sorry for this delay but can assure you that your purchase will be dispatched between these dates.

Obviously you may not wish to wait and prefer to cancel, if this is the case then please email us and in the subject bar please write cancel along with your order reference number, this will help us to issue a full refund to you faster.

If you wish to continue then you do not need to email us, we have you on our system and your order will be dispatched as stated.

Having read other posts in this thread it would appear that a refund is merely a mirage.

I too have now reported the matter to Essex Police and am waiting on contact from them.
